JO Frost led the way for Bromsgrove and Reddith AC (BRAC), as members spent the weekend at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham in the Midlands Counties Indoor Championships.
Competing alongside clubs such as Birchfield Harriers, Coventry Godiva’s, Cheltenham, Loughborough and Oxford, the competition was tough but members did not disappoint.
In the senior women’s long jump, Frost stole first place from Birchfield’s Jade Surman by three centimetres to equal her indoor personal best with a jump of 5.66 metres.
She also competed in the 60 metres, coming first in her heat in 7.88 seconds and third in the final with a time of 7.84 to equal her PB.
In the under-20s, Izzy Billau finished sixth in the 60m final in a time of 8.15 and achieved seventh place in the triple-jump.
In the junior events, two BRAC athletes took part in the under-15s girls 60m race.
Rebekah Miller finished third in her heat, while Candy Lockett was fifth in her heat.
Lockett then went onto place ninth in the under-15s long jump with a leap of 4.09m, threw a PB of 7.38m in the shot putt.
Sam Cater secured second in the senior men’s shot putt with a throw of 11.91m, losing out to Cheltenham’s Jamie Courtenay who threw 12.60m.
David Mould achieved third place in his heat of the senior men’s 400m with a time of 51.33, while in under-20s men’s 60m, Dewi Hammond won his heat in a time of 7.02, taking the final in 6.97s.
Meanwhile, a trio made up a women’s cross-country team who raced in final fixture in the Midlands League in Cheltenham.
Sally Hogan completed the course in 31st overall, and third junior, followed by Tamara Ball (48th) and Charlotte Ball (79th), which saw the club come 13th.
In the final round of the Birmingham Cross-Country League in Wolverhampton, the men put in a fine performance to end the campaign 10th in the table.
Rich Lomas (16th) led the team home over the icy course followed by Dave Gemmell (38th), Sean Bowden (48th), Andy Freeman (62nd), Ashley Ross (66th) and Steve Williams (67th) as the A team recorded less than 300 points for the first time this season.
