Ball leads the way home

BROMSGROVE and Redditch AC members travelled to Nottingham on Saturday to compete in the Midland Counties Cross-Country Championships at Wollaton Park.
Orianna Ball, who tackled the five-kilometre course, was the first to finish for the club, coming 41st in a time of 21 minutes 40 seconds.
In the under-20s women’s 5km, race Sally Hogan finished an impressive sixth in 19.16.
In the senior women’s 8km race, Bromsgrove and Redditch AC were represented by mother and daughter team Charlotte and Tamara Ball.
Tamara finished 52nd in a time of 33.51 with Charlotte 94th three minutes behind.
Meanwhile, a full men’s team came a respectable 25th out of 44 taking part in the 12km event.
Andy Freeman (140th, 45.35), Steve Williams (147th, 46.00), James Atkins (206th, 48.23), Damian Lewis (234th, 49.21), Phil Anderson (249th, 50.07) and Simon Lanckham (264th, 51.04) also performed solidly.
Meanwhile, the club also took part in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross-Country League fourth round in Nuneaton.

U17s women: 16th Orianna Ball (14.36); 21st Izzy Billau (14.56).
U11s boys: 17th Cameron Cooper (7.20); 22nd Joshua Pearson (7.33).
U13s boys: 39th Ben O’Connor (10.04); 42nd Max Battle (10.14); 46th Liam Bowden (10.33); 57th Rhys Suffing (10.45); 80th Neil Adam (16.06).
U15s boys: 31st James Downing (13.30); 60th Oliver Kemp (14.44); 65th Andrew Pearson (15.55); 66th Lewis Anderson (15.55).
U17s men: 25th Callum Smith (18.56); 29th George Thomas (19.36).
