YOUNGSTER Craig Evans celebrated a maiden victory with a super display at Alvechuch Fisheries.
Evans won the Saturday Open by a huge margin, finishing with 88lbs 7oz, almost 50lbs more than his nearest challenger.
Warren Beech finished third to cap a fine week, having come out on top at the club’s Thursday Open Results — Thursday Open: 1 Warren Beech (peg 34) 62lbs 1oz, 2 Glen Maxwell (peg 24) 61lbs 8oz, 3 Ron Taylor (peg 3) 51lbs 10oz.
Saturday Open: 1 Craig Evans (peg 24) 88lbs 7oz, 2 Ron Taylor (peg 32) 31lbs, 3 Warren Beech (peg 5) 29lbs 4oz.
Meanwhile, 17 anglers took part in the second round of the Needles AC’s Winter League on the River Alne at Great Alne on Sunday.
From downstream on peg 33, Glyn Blewett caught 8lb of chub for a winning weight of 8lbs 5 ozs.
