Vitamins made available at Redditch Children's Centres
4:20pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012
EXPECTING mums, and children in Redditch under the age of four, will now be able to get hold of healthy start vitamins from their local Sure Start Children’s Centre.
The six centres operating throughout Redditch, are keeping stocks of the vitamins, and they will be given out free to families qualifying for the NHS Healthy Start scheme, and at a cost of 91p for tablets and £1.80 for drops, to people who don’t qualify.
Helen Horton, family services manager in Redditch, said “It’s easier than ever now for families to get access to vitamins that can help give their children a healthy start in life. They can pick them up when they are popping into any one of our popular children’s groups, or clinics.”
The Healthy Start scheme provides fresh fruit, vegetable, cow’s milk, formula milk and vitamins to pregnant women under 18 and families with children under four receiving benefits.
Anyone wanting to find out if they are eligible should speak to their midwife, health visitor or a member of staff at their local Children’s Centre.
