Local Age UK branch thanks The Phoenix Group for generosity
7:30am Wednesday 22nd February 2012

THE Phoenix Group, based in Wythall, has presented £6,382.16 to Age UK Redditch and District.
Staff based at the site organised various fundraising activities, including a dress down day, cake sale and raffles over the Christmas period which raised just over £3,000 of the total amount; which the group then matched.
The Redditch & District partner was chosen as it is only six miles from the Wythall office. Staff wished to help those living in the community in which Phoenix Group operates, especially over the festive period when Age UK estimated that as many as one in 10 people over 65 spent Christmas 2010 alone.
The local charity has nearly 500 members who make around 10,000 visits each year to regular Age UK social, learning and health-related activities. The charity also manages a programme of day trips, holidays and entertainment events. Additionally, they provide an array of services such as handyperson, home support, information and advice. Consequently Phoenix felt this was a fitting charity to support.
Peter Nash, spokesperson for Age UK Redditch & District, said: "We are thrilled that Phoenix Group have chosen us to be recipients of their fundraising.
“In the current economic climate it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide and expand all of our areas of support for older people. So, this fundraising is especially welcome at this time and we are very grateful to the staff and the company.”
