Burns Night celebrations at Alvechurch care home
3:50pm Friday 27th January 2012

RESIDENTS at a care home in Alvechurch enjoyed the delights of a real bagpiper as they celebrated Burns Night.
Piper Andy DeComyn, from Birmingham, brought the sounds of Scotland to Grosvenor House Care Home, in Aqueduct Lane, Coopers Hill, Alvechurch, on Wednesday, January 25.
It was part of a Scottish-themed week for residents to commemorate poet Robert Burns’s 253rd birthday.
Grosvenor House, which is owned by Alpha Care Homes, was festooned with Scottish bunting and there was haggis and other traditional fare from Robbie Burns’s homeland.
The home’s activities co-ordinator Zoe Hughes, said: “The residents were really looking forward to our week of all things Scottish.
“We put on a full programme of activities here to stimulate and entertain our residents – and they loved hearing the stirring sounds of a real, live piper in our home.”
