Church Hill Middle School celebrates 30 years

TO mark Church Hill Middle School’s 30th birthday, staff and pupils received a visit from a special guest.

Redditch MP Jacqui Smith popped in to the school to help plant a tree, the first of 30 donated by the Woodland Trust through its Tree for All initiative, to celebrate the milestone.

The other trees will be planted by year 5 pupils around the school grounds and in a newly established forest area.

Sue Rejoni, senior administrator at the school, said: “I was a pupil at Church Hill in 1980, the very first year of opening.

“The now established trees outside my office window were mere saplings then, just like the one that was planted today.

“Now, 30 years later the trees and the school are still going strong and I am back at school working here.”

She added: “I hope that the year 5 pupils today will see these trees mature and flourish and that they will develop as many happy memories of Church Hill as I have myself.”
